Target Audience Profile
My target audience is the AB demographic of 16-25
year olds. This audience will be expecting a culturally diverse and
sophisticated show that reflects the ethos of Channel 4. This means that my
show needs to target the audience in a way that is innovative enough to keep
them hooked from the start. The audience will consume music in various formats
so it is vital that the show has multi-platforms to make it accessible at all
times of the day. This will mainly be linked through the website with the use
of social media and Youtube accounts to make the show entirely media
accessible.
My target audience is people who are avid fans of
all types of music. They want to see music from artists they’re already
familiar with but also new and exciting talent that they can be introduced to.
This will be showcased in the exclusive interviews and performances that are a
key part of the show. The viewer can get to see a different side of their
favourite artist as well as getting access to early content, like first
performances of a new single, before anyone else. This would then be available
on the website to watch again later as this is typical of the target audience
who would expect to be able to rewatch the content that they enjoy, as they are
a sophisticated audience.
An example of someone who fits the target audience would be a professional worker with an avid interest in music. They would be a commuter with plenty of free time on their daily journey to listen to the new music and interact with the 'catch-up' content of the show on their mobile or tablet. They would be 20 years old, having worked in their current job since leaving school, this is most likely to be in the field of finance or insurance or something intellectually similar. This means that they have a decent disposable income but the high value competition prize would still be above their average paycheck, meaning that it is still desirable as it wouldn't normally be achievable. They will have come from a middle to upper income family and are likely to have gone skiing in the past, so the prize still seems familiar to them. They enjoy going to see live music at concerts as well as festivals and are generally sociable both online and in person.

Good planning Grace; I'd like to see a real profile of a couple of specific people who might fall under this demographic with details of their occupation, lifestyle choices to help you focus offers, competitions etc. on the website.
